Pastor Colt and Kasey have a passionate vision to produce the original worship songs in a way that is accessible the broader “Capital C” church. In 2019, Ovation Worship was formed to accomplish this purpose. An Ovation is defined as “a sustained or enthusiastic show of appreciation.” That is a major facet of what worship is all about. It’s about taking the time to focus on the God of heaven and earth and to thank Him for all the great things He has done!
As stated above, Ovation Worship is comprised of worshipers, singers and musicians who are united for the purpose of experiencing the presence of God and leading others to connect with Him on a day-to-day basis. They do this through presenting passionate sets of worship at various functions of Cornerstone Church, but also by releasing albums and other merchandise that help people experience God’s presence outside the four walls of the church.
The original sound of Ovation Worship reflects the broad, demographic make-up of the team, fusing young synth music with modern rock. However, beyond the scope of our sound, the lyrics and message of Ovation Worship represents a hunger and a passion for the presence of God. This presence then fuels us for the purpose of reaching the world with the message of Jesus Christ.
Meet Pastors Colt and Kasey Straub
Colt and Kasey Straub met at church in 2004. Colt was the Worship Pastor of a local tourist outreach church and Kasey was a talented, young singer with a heart for worship. After they were married, the couple served as worship pastors in that church until 2013. During this time, Colt also worked in and helped produce several live productions. However, this couple’s heart was definitively for ministry. They worked in tandem with a local church to produce an outreach that united several of the local churches together for a worship-based, youth outreach called “Alive.” It was during this time that God stirred Colt’s heart to do things that minister to the broader church. After a low point in their ministry, Colt and Kasey Straub, accepted the position of Worship Pastors at Cornerstone Church in 2014. During the first five years of their time at Cornerstone, Colt and Kasey worked to set systems in place and establish training for the band and singers. In those years, Cornerstone experienced many highs and lows of ministry, much like every church goes through. However, God was not and is not through with Cornerstone. In the past season, God has been reviving the fire of worship in Cornerstone. This has stirred the worship team to begin writing worship songs for their local church. However, it was also during this time that God began to give them a vision to produce the original worship songs in a way that is accessible to worship groups in the broader “Capital C” church.
